Ready for Sweet 16 Round Two

The Buckeyes pulled it off! What a great night of basketball....they only game that didn't come down to the wire was the Pitt/UCLA game, and that was still a great game. I love the tourney.

The first part of the Elite Eight is set....Kansas/UCLA and Ohio State/Memphis.

Tomorrow features Florida/Butler (easy Gator win), UNLV/Oregon, UNC/USC, and Vandy/Georgetown. I'm looking forward to UNC/USC the most....

In Sooner football news, Kirk Herbstreit said good things about us on ESPN today! Said if we can get our QB and defensive questions ironed out, and get past texas, we've got a shot at making a national title run. :) Here's hoping!

Off The Rim

As my mom just said...

"Geez, Ohio State can't buy a basket tonight"

Me thinks the Buckeyes are in trouble....

Hometown Hero

Antonio Graves (#22) for Pittsburgh is from the town I was born in (Mansfield, OH). It was cool to hear them announce that on tv a few minutes ago...

KU first to the Elite Eight!

Well, Kansas tried to give us all a heart attack, but they pulled it out against a tough SIU team. Rock Chalk Jayhawk!

The Aggies just lost. Acie Law missed an easy basket that could've saved them the game. Whoops! But it was a great game, and Memphis will lose to the winner of the OSU/Tennessee game anyways. My bracket isn't worth much now, though.

On to Pitt/UCLA and Ohio State/Tennessee, both of which should be fun to watch.

Sweet 16-ness

The beginning of the second half of the Kansas/Southern Illinois game....

KU is down by 3. They had better start shaping up! Their offense is all over the place, and they can't hang onto the ball to save their lives right now. SIU's defense really is good.

The talking heads are already talking about how that shot by KU at the shot clock buzzer shouldn't have counted. I think they should wait to see if it matters, first....

SIU's Tatum (SIU's leading scorer) only has 2 pts in the game so far. I'd say KU's D is doing a decent job, but their offense needs to get rolling. SIU's big man Falkner has 3 fouls. Good for the 'Hawks!

13 KU turnovers so far. Noooot good. But I guess the good news is, KU is playing terribly and is only down by 3...

Texas A&M and Memphis are locked in a doozy of a game. It's entertaining to watch, even with the Aggie fans doing their weird chants in the stands. I hope the Aggies can pull it off, but even if they don't, they're not going out without a fight.

TV announcers have a very strange vocabulary, and are not nearly as funny as they think they are. They really need to stop calling the basketball a pumpkin....

Aaron Ross to KC?

In my NFL draft magazine, they're talking about Texas CB Aaron Ross going to the Chiefs, and I think that's a great idea.

Not only do the Chiefs need a good corner, but this way, every time Ross steps out on the field, he'll be reminded that he never got to play in Kansas City (home of the 2000, 2003, 2004, and 2006 Big 12 Championship games) as a college player. Heh.

Don't forget to watch the Jayhawks take on Southern Illinois tonight -- tipoff at 6:10!

My first crack at Blogspot

This is my first crack at Blogspot. Brian said I should have my own newspaper column, so this is the closest thing I could come up with.

Welcome to my little column!

First things first...

The Kansas Jayhawks take on the SIU Salukis tomorrow. I don't forsee the 'Hawks having much of a problem with them, but I've been wrong once before. (It was a Tuesday) We'll see how it goes. As for Ohio State, I see them winning. Not big, but for the sake of my bracket, I see them winning. I can see Florida winning easily (although I am sick of Joakim Noah), and UNC should win, but if any of the big four get upset, I'd have to say USC over UNC. But that wouldn't do my bracket any favors....

Word on the street here in KC says Brodie Croyle is the next Trent Green. Should we be excited about this?? I'm not positive about that yet. And Sammy Knight is no longer a Chief. Good or bad? You tell me. But I agree with ESPN saying we need to get some new blood on our offense....

I bought ESPN's NFL Draft magazine today. It's interesting, and I like reading about the players (esp. Adrian Peterson), but I'll be honest. I bought the magazine because Brady Quinn was on the cover, and he is one gorgeous man. Good marketing ploy, ESPN! I'm not hugely confident in his pro future, but I'd draft the man! :)

It's finally storming EVER so slightly outside, so I'm going to lie down and try to fall asleep. Hopefully we'll see more storms as the AM wears on? Here's hoping....
